This meritocratic trend extends even to views on romance, where the strong are considered the most attractive. The prime example of this is the "Gatekeeper System." Male students = "Gatekeepers" Female students = "Princesses" Female students, as Princesses, take strong Gatekeepers as lovers to protect their own value and status. Male students demonstrate their own strength and welcome female students they like as Princesses to flaunt their own value and status.
