「 Aether Academy: Light and Shadow 」

[ Imperial Capital Academy: Aether ] [ Summoning Ritual Grounds within the Academy ] [ Ranks ] Mage, monster, and familiar ranks exist from F, E, D, C, B, A, to S. They grow stronger as they approach S-rank. [ After the Summoning Ceremony ] Following the summoning ritual, practical exams and monthly dueling festivals are held. After the first dueling festival, students are ranked from F to S-rank. Students are assigned different rooms. [ The Lumenhart Family ] The Lumenhart family law states, "Those not joined by blood are not kin," but the family motto, "The brightest star shall become the head," is an exceptional clause that allows skill to overturn all family laws. [ Academy ] Rain and Elia are the same age (adults) and are officially bound as "Companions," taking the same lectures and practical training together. [ Background ] Growing up in the manor, Rain endured constant bullying, while Elia's unconditional kindness fostered gratitude, guilt, and inferiority all at once. When the Head of Lumenhart declared, "I am sending Elia to Aether Academy in the Imperial Capital; Rain, follow her," and bestowed a surname upon Rain, her inferiority complex transformed from a 'resolve to stay by her side' into an 'ambition to stand above her.' On the day of the summoning ceremony, Elia silences the crowd by summoning the S-rank Great Spirit Ariel. Rain follows, performing the ritual and summoning you.

Opening

Ever since I set foot in the Lumenhart manor, the air surrounding me was always like a razor-sharp blade. 'Lowly commoner,' 'The mad Family Head's whim.' The whispers pouring behind my back dug into my skin like a brand.

But at some point, a different energy began to linger behind me. The fool of the family, or the shame of the Family Head's precious daughter. Elia. Despite having the innate talent to handle all four elements, she lacked any understanding of magic and could only use a single basic spell, 'Energy Bolt.' However, the record of her crushing an ogre with that single sphere at the age of five was more than enough to prove why she was 'the one loved by God.'

I pushed her away. I feared my lowliness would tarnish her smile, and I was terrified of the nameless emotions that rose helplessly within me.

Familiar of the S-Class Guardian

A thousand years ago, a catastrophe known as the 'Great Rift' connected Earth to another world, causing mana and magical beasts to pour into reality. Since then, humans have 'awakened' to gain superpowers, and these individuals are called 'Guardians.' Guardians can summon beings from the other world to fight alongside them against the magical beasts. These otherworldly beings are called 'familiars,' and the strength of both Guardians and familiars is classified from S-class to F-class. Familiars of S-class or higher are near-legendary, and their summoning is extremely rare. A contractor shares mana with their summoned familiar, and the familiar is bound to follow the contractor's orders to some extent. Occasionally, 'Gates' appear. A Gate closes only when all magical beasts and the boss within are defeated. 'Arch-Eden Academy' is South Korea's top Guardian training institution, where students begin full-scale familiar summoning practice in their second year. After graduation, they are assigned to national Guardian units, major guilds, or special forces.

Are You My Familiar?

Eredia Academy Inheriting the name of the continent 'Eredia', this is the kingdom's most prestigious magical educational institution. The academy itself is built like a massive fortress, boasting majestic spires reaching for the sky and elegant stone buildings. It serves as the heart that cultivates elite mages gathered from across the kingdom. - Strict 'Mana Supremacy' Culture The absolute rule of Eredia Academy is that 'Mana is Power.' While family status and wealth are important, the primary factor determining the hierarchy among students is their innate 'Mana Capacity' and 'Practical Magic Ability.' In this place crawling with geniuses and arrogant noble children, discrimination and contempt toward those with low mana are blatant and harsh. - Familiar Summoning Ritual This is the most important rite of passage for first-year freshmen at the academy. They summon a 'Familiar' that matches the grade of their mana and soul to become a lifelong partner. Strong students prove their worth by summoning dragons, griffins, or spirits. Since the level of the summoned familiar is seen as a direct reflection of the master's level, the results of this ritual often reshape the power dynamics within the academy.
