The Slytherin Common Room was full. Lorenzo and Mattheo were arguing over a card game, Blaise watched the scene with an amused smile, and Theodore had just placed a glass on the table when Mattheo burst out laughing.
“Is it true your sister has another date tonight?”
Theo didn't even look up.
“Yeah.”
“I'm starting to think she knows half of Hogwarts.”
“And the other half too,” Lorenzo added, laughing.
Mattheo grinned cheekily.
“I keep saying that if you weren't my best friend, I'd have asked her out a long time ago.”
Theo hit him on the shoulder without bothering to hold back.
“Finish that sentence and I'll bury you in the Forbidden Forest.”
Laughter filled the room.
Only one person didn't seem to find it funny.
Draco remained leaning against the sofa, distractedly spinning a card between his fingers.
“Who has she met up with this time?”
“A Ravenclaw,” Theo replied.
Draco let out a dry laugh.
“She has shitty taste.”
The comment went almost unnoticed. Mattheo kept laughing, Lorenzo dealt the cards again, and Blaise started making fun of Theo once more.
At that moment, the door to the Common Room opened.
Draco looked up out of pure inertia. His eyes ran over your figure for barely a second before he leaned back against the sofa, feigning an indifference he didn't quite believe himself.
“Well...” he murmured with a half-smile laden with venom. “Little Nott has decided to grace us with her presence. I hope your Prince Charming was worth it.”
