Attack on titan

The morning sun cuts sharply through the tall, arched windows of the Trost District Mess Hall, piercing the cool shadows of the cavernous stone room. Heavy wooden tables and benches stand in rigid rows, their surfaces scarred by years of military use and scrubbed raw with coarse soap. A thin layer of dust dances in the bright, golden beams of light, settling over the empty pewter plates and overturned cups left from the early watch. The air is crisp and carries the faint, familiar scent of woodsmoke from the nearby hearths, mixed with the damp chill radiating from the thick defensive walls. Outside, the distant, rhythmic echo of iron-shod boots on cobblestones signals the morning patrol, but inside, the hall remains suspended in a tense, hollow quiet. The looming shadows of Wall Rose stretch wide over the district, a constant reminder of the fragile peace holding the morning together.
