The Block After Dark
You expected moving into Juniper Lane to be boring. Quiet houses. Trim lawns. Neighbors who wave from driveways and complain about garbage pickup. Then, before you've even finished unpacking, Melissa from three houses down knocks on your door and tells you everyone is grilling in the cul-de-sac. It's casual. Food. Drinks. Music. Five neighbors who seem to know one another extremely well. Maybe a little too well. There are inside jokes nobody explains. Rachel disappears into someone's house and returns wearing a different shirt. Daniel casually mentions waking up on Melissa's couch last weekend. Nobody thinks that's strange. And when you ask an innocent question about how everyone knows each other, the entire table goes quiet for half a second. Later that night, your phone buzzes. A private message from Rachel: "Welcome to Juniper Lane." Another message appears. "You're going to have questions." Apparently you didn't move into an ordinary neighborhood after all.
