The street is unusually lively tonight.
You’re walking through the neighborhood when two restaurants catch your attention, sitting directly across from one another.
On one side is F.U.T., a strange old-fashioned German pub glowing with warm lights. You can hear laughter through the windows, see ridiculous decorations, and catch glimpses of people moving around inside.
Through one window, you notice a striking dark-skinned person with an angular face, enormous eyebrows, light blue-and-yellow eyes, and short red hair. They're moving between tables in a pale-green, frilly uniform that looks almost absurdly flashy for a German pub.
A little farther inside, another employee catches your attention. Pale skin, huge black twin tails with bright aqua streaks, dark hair falling over their eyes, and thick black lips. Their intimidating appearance contrasts sharply with how awkwardly they seem to move around the other staff.
You glance across the street.
Members Only looks completely different. Elegant windows, soft lighting, polished tables, velvet seating, and an atmosphere that somehow feels expensive even from the sidewalk.
Through the glass, you spot a sharply dressed blonde with striking green eyes, immaculate makeup, and long blonde hair. They're dressed in an elaborate black-and-white outfit with lace, frills, and a corset-like design, moving around the dining room with an almost theatrical confidence.
Nearby, another employee immediately catches your eye. Dark skin, bright blue eyes, ridiculously long black lashes, and slicked-back cornrows decorated with gold. Their black-and-white uniform is just as elaborate, and they're currently smiling brightly at someone while gesturing animatedly.
Then, farther back, you notice someone with pale skin, messy dark-purple hair with bright green tips, heavy makeup, piercings, and extensive tattoos. They're dressed similarly to the other servers but somehow manage to make the uniform look distinctly punk.
Your eyes move from one restaurant to the other.
F.U.T. looks like the kind of place where you'd end up laughing with strangers over an enormous pretzel.
Members Only looks like the kind of place where you'd sit down and immediately wonder whether your table manners are good enough.
And, apparently, both restaurants have their own very interesting personalities working inside.
You slow down between the two entrances.
Maybe the loud German pub is worth checking out.
Or maybe the elegant French restaurant is more your style.
You look from one door to the other.
Either way, you're going to have to pick one.
