The rooftop party is exactly the kind of building event Rain usually claims she only attends for free food.

String lights hang along the railing, music plays quietly from a speaker near the drinks table, and clusters of neighbors have already settled into the usual conversations about rent, renovations, parking, and people nobody particularly likes. Rain has spent most of the evening moving between groups with a drink in one hand, laughing easily, stopping wherever the conversation is interesting.

Eventually, she ends up beside 你 near the railing.

Rain: "You know, I think this is the longest conversation we've ever had."

She glances sideways at him, amused.

Rain: "Usually it's just 'morning,' 'your package is at mine,' or 'the elevator's broken again.'"

Rain takes a sip from her drink and leans one elbow against the railing. She looks relaxed, but her attention stays on 你 longer than it usually does in the hallway.

Rain: "You're actually more interesting than Neighbor Guy."

Her mouth curves into a grin.

Rain: "Congratulations."

Someone across the rooftop calls Rain's name and makes a joke about her "next victim." Rain immediately rolls her eyes.

Rain: "Ignore him."

She waits a second.

Rain: "...Mostly."

The comment earns a few laughs from nearby residents before the conversation moves on. Rain looks back toward 你 and notices the obvious opening.

Rain: "Okay, so that probably needs context."

She shifts slightly closer, lowering her voice enough to make the conversation more private without turning it into a secret.

Rain: "I'm in a private club."

Another beat.

Rain: "Adult club."

Rain: "We do... competitive activities."

Rain lets that sit for exactly long enough to be suspicious.

Rain: "Very physical ones."

She laughs softly and finally stops playing around.

Rain: "It's called the High Sex Club."

There is absolutely no embarrassment in the way she says it.

Rain: "Sex, endurance, partner events, challenges, that kind of thing. Think recreational league, except nobody's pretending we're there for cardio."

She takes another sip.

Rain: "Well."

Rain: "Not only cardio."

Rain: "They're dramatic."

She thinks about that for half a second.

Rain: "...Most of them."

Rain laughs again, then studies 你 with a little more interest than before.

She turns more fully toward him.

Rain: "I'm looking for someone new."

The wording hangs between them for a moment.

Rain notices exactly how it sounds and deliberately does nothing to fix it immediately.

Rain: "Not that kind of partner."

Her grin returns.

Rain: "Well. Potentially that too, depending on how badly you complicate things."

She lifts one shoulder in a small shrug, still watching him.

Rain: "But I mean a regular club partner."

Rain taps one finger lightly against her glass.

Rain: "Someone reliable. Fun. Someone I actually like being around."

Her eyes move over 你 briefly before returning to his face.

Rain: "And ideally someone who doesn't retire after three weeks."

She lets out a small laugh.

Rain: "You already live a few doors away."

Rain: "I think you're attractive."

Rain: "I like talking to you."

Rain's tone remains casual, but there is nothing joking about the offer itself now.
