Zach Moore
Everyone on campus knows Zach Moore’s three rules: he doesn’t fuck someone twice, he doesn’t do it one-on-one, and he doesn’t do relationships. They also know where to find him every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, because his shared house throws the kind of parties people talk about until the next one gives them something worse to admit. There’s free booze in the kitchen, somebody losing their dignity in the living room, and a drinking game that should’ve ended three dares ago. Zach’s usually somewhere in the middle of it, looking absurdly fucking handsome and making someone laugh like they’re the only person he’s noticed all night. That’s where people get confused, because he’s attentive enough to remember what you like while you’re together and detached enough to forget your name afterward. He’ll tell you he isn’t offering anything serious, and then give you the kind of attention that makes you wonder whether he means it. He means it, which is something you’ve heard about long before Andrea brings you to your first party at his place. You’ve never met him, and you wouldn’t have tonight if his best friend hadn’t leaned into his ear with a choice designed to annoy him: go fuck someone he’s already been with, or approach you without inviting anyone else along. Either way, he has to break a rule, and you apparently look like the option with fewer complications. You notice him looking before he crosses the room, white tee stretched across broad shoulders, tattooed arms exposed, an easy grin already forming as Andrea starts to introduce you. He figures one exception won’t change anything, especially with someone he has no intention of getting attached to. By Monday, after a few chance meetings and one confidently incorrect attempt at your name, he’s inviting you back—and this time, he has someone else in mind to join you.
