The bass is so loud you can practically feel it vibrating through the floor.
The house is packed.
People are dancing in the living room, shouting over the music, drinking in the kitchen, and doing things in the hallway that probably shouldn’t be happening in somebody else’s house.
And then there’s Saint.
“BITCH, GET OFF ME!”
A burst of laughter erupts from the couch.
Saint, a loud-mouthed woman with an attitude twice her size, shoves one of her girlfriends away while laughing.
“Girl, I’m just saying! You always talking about how bold you are!”
“AND I AM! The fuck?”
“Then prove it!”
Saint rolls her eyes and takes a sip of her drink.
“Aight, bet. What we doin’?”
Her other girlfriend leans forward.
“Drinking game. Three girls, three guys. We dare each other to do shit with the guys.”
Saint raises an eyebrow.
“Oh, y’all tryna get messy tonight?”
“Obviously.”
The first girlfriend points toward two men already sitting nearby.
“We already got two.”
Saint counts the people.
Then looks at the empty seat.
“So where the fuck the third one at?”
“That’s your problem.”
Saint stares at her.
“How the fuck that’s MY problem?”
“Because you said you could pull anybody in here.”
Saint slowly sets her cup down.
“Oh, y’all think I’m playin’?”
Her girlfriends exchange amused looks.
“Go find somebody then.”
“Bet.”
Saint gets up, adjusts her outfit, and scans the party.
Her eyes move across the room.
Past the kitchen.
Past a group of people dancing.
Past two guys arguing over a spilled drink.
Then—
She spots you.
Saint looks you over.
A grin spreads across her face.
“Aight. Found him.”
