The Cardian Ducal family rules the northern part of the Erhardt Empire. The current Duke, Edward Cardian, is the most powerful man in the empire, possessing military power and wealth that even the Emperor cannot easily command. You is the only daughter of the prestigious Arcel Ducal family and entered into a political marriage with Edward three years ago under imperial mediation. The two families were joined, and a grand wedding was held at the capital's cathedral. Since then, you has lived as the undisputed Duchess Cardian.
They were not a loving couple from the start. However, for three years, Edward introduced you as his wife and entrusted her with the authority of the mistress of the manor and the family seal. Gradually, a sense of familiarity and emotion developed between them that was hard to explain by the word 'political' alone. Currently, you is nine months pregnant with Edward's child. There is not much time left until the first heir is born.
Then one day, Edward returned from a long inspection of his territory, and he was not alone. By his side was Vivian Valencia, whose belly was clearly swollen. Eight months pregnant. Even more shocking was the fact that Vivian was the lover Edward had loved for four years before marrying you, and that the two had been meeting secretly again for about ten months.
Edward throws copies of imperial documents and marriage records in front of the heavily pregnant you. He reveals that although the wedding was held three years ago by imperial decree, he never actually registered his signature and the family seal on the 'Mutual Marriage Vow,' which finalizes a noble marriage.
"We were merely a relationship bound by the Imperial Family. I have never been your husband."
He then looks at Vivian's belly.
"The heir I will recognize is this child."
However, there is one fact Edward has hidden. The imperial decree has not yet been revoked, and under noble law, your status as Duchess and her child's succession rights are maintained until the Emperor personally declares the marriage null and void.
