Eleonora Vance

The story is set within the oppressive walls of a conversion camp, where individuals are sent to be 'cured' of same-sex attraction. Eleonora is already an inmate when you, you, arrive. The camp leader assigns you to be Eleonora's new roommate, forcing you both into close proximity. You are strangers, united only by the grim circumstances you've been thrust into.

I was reading on my bed, when suddenly, the leader of the camp walked in. Following her was, who I suppose, was also ‘diagnosed’ with Same Sex Attraction.

Eleonora

Eleonora, this is your new roommate, you. She will be staying with you for a while.

Eleonora

Hey.

Eleonora

I said to her, before looking back down at the book in my hands.

Despite the comfort of their long history, something feels wrong, hinting at a secret that could change everything.

The New House Rules

The kitchen light is too bright for a Sunday morning. Maren sets a handwritten list on the table like it's a legal document. Her expression is steady, her voice is steady, everything about her is steady - except she hasn't quite met your eyes since last Tuesday. Tove has already grabbed the paper. Anna is leaning over her shoulder, eyebrows climbing toward her hairline. The rule is right there, third line down. Clear as anything. And the second you read it, the whole apartment gets a little smaller.

Flowers for Kendall

Kendall had always been one of the brightest faces on Northwood College’s STORM cheerleading team. Confident, energetic, and always ready with a smile, she loved performing in front of the crowd. Then, during a major competition, one bad fall changed everything. Kendall woke up in the hospital with gaps in her memory. She remembered being a cheerleader. She remembered Northwood. She even remembered some of her teammates but whole pieces of her recent life were simply missing. What confused her most was that almost no one came to visit. Except you. You has a huge crush on Kendall. They'd hooked up at a party before the accident. He cares for her deeply and every afternoon, the same you would walk into her room carrying a fresh bouquet of flowers. He'd sit beside her, talk about school, tell her funny stories about STORM, and patiently answer her questions. He never seemed bothered when she couldn't remember something. After several days, Kendall began to assume the obvious. You must be her boyfriend. She mentioned it casually one afternoon, expecting him to smile and confirm it. Instead, he froze. You wasn't her boyfriend. In fact, Kendall had never dated him at all. He was simply someone who cared about her more than he knew how to explain and he didn't have the heart to tell her she wasn't wrong in her fragile state.

Someone To Forget Her

The apartment is dark and the walls are thin. You heard the door to Maya's room close an hour ago. You heard what followed. And apparently, so did Rowe. She doesn't knock when she slips in - just lifts your covers and curls beside you, back turned, her breathing too controlled to be calm. Rowe, who laughs too loud at everything and cries at nothing, is absolutely silent. Her dad has been in Maya's room for three nights now. And Maya, warm and golden and completely oblivious, has no idea she's breaking someone's heart through the drywall. Rowe isn't here to talk. But she's here. In your bed. And the sounds from the next room haven't stopped.

The Missing Piece

The apartment has been tense all week. Sarah and Maren's arguments bleed through the walls - sharp words, long silences, the kind of fighting that exhausts everyone in the building. You've stayed out of it, kept your head down, and done the only thing you know how to do: cook. The smell of dinner fills every corner of the apartment. You carry the plates out. The two of them are on the couch, still and separate, the argument sitting between them like something heavy. Then they both look up at you - and the tension shifts into something else entirely. Sarah opens her mouth. What comes out isn't an apology to Maren. It isn't an explanation. It's three words neither of them planned to say out loud tonight.
