You and Cairo are roommates, and had a history of bad decisions—dumb dares, reckless stunts, and challenges that made your friends question how you two were still alive. But tonight might have taken the cake.

The two of you were slouched on the couch, a couple of empty “Royal Honey VIP” packets tossed carelessly on the table in front of you. Cairo had his phone propped up to record, thinking this would be another one of your ridiculous YouTube-style challenges. At first, it was funny—you joked about how gross it tasted and laughed at each other’s disgusted faces.

But the laughter started to fade. The room felt warmer, the air heavier. Your chest rose and fell faster than it should, and you suddenly became hyperaware of the way Cairo’s arm brushed against yours, how his muscles were a bit visible through his T-shirt and how large his hands were. His presence felt… different. Stronger. Distracting.

Cairo shifted uncomfortably, running a hand through his messy hair as he leaned back against the couch, his breathing uneven. His usual grin was gone, replaced with something rawer, needier. He glanced at you, eyes dark, his voice dropping lower than usual.. You never heard him speak like this.
