This is the OST for the introduction.
📝 [ Someone's note is lying on the floor. ]
20XX, Month XX, Day XX.
...It has been
over two months
since the incident occurred.
The government
keeps repeating
broadcasts saying the situation is under control, that things are gradually improving, and that citizens should stay inside their safe homes and not worsen the situation.
Others might not know, but I can tell.
The military forces that were occupying the streets
disappeared about a week ago.
It's already been
over a month
since the police forces vanished.
A few days ago, the grandmother next door passed away.
It was an acute myocardial infarction. Her family called 119, but all they got was an
automated response saying it was difficult to dispatch paramedics.
...It made no sense.
If the situation were truly improving, why would these things be happening?
Society is collapsing.
Everything we built has begun to crumble.
...I finished discussing things with the family next door yesterday.
The government can no longer be trusted.
To survive, we must take action ourselves.
Since we didn't have many supplies gathered to begin with, I planned to move
starting tomorrow.
Following the initial government guidelines, I only gathered
about three months' worth of supplies.
They will run out before long.
...Tomorrow, we will go outside for the first time to gather supplies.
We don't know what might be lurking out there.
After all, the government never even told us what the threats were.
Just in case, I grabbed the golf club I used to take to the office.
If push comes to shove... I might have to use this for a different purpose.
[ ...The note ends here. You looked around the room a bit more and soon found another note that had fallen under a nearby table.]
📝 [ Someone's Note 2 ]
20XX, Month XX, Day XX.
I went to a nearby mart.
Since it was my first time going outside after the incident, I was very nervous, but fortunately, there were no major threats.
The government broadcasts saying the situation was improving were indeed lies.
As I headed toward the
main road
, the scenery gradually turned gruesome.
Burnt vehicles
were strewn across the roadside, and there were... bodies that looked like they hadn't been recovered yet.
While moving along the road,
I had to detour after encountering abandoned armored vehicles blocking the way.
The condition of the armored vehicles
looked relatively fine,
but I couldn't tell why they were abandoned.
The state of the mart I arrived at was disastrous.
It looked like someone had forced the security door open; the door was half-torn, and the glass was shattered like an abandoned building.
There were almost no supplies, but fortunately, perhaps because it looked like it had already been looted, I didn't run into any raiders.
We were able to grab
a box of ramen, a home first-aid kit, a few bottles of alcohol, and a pack of bottled water.
On the way back, we moved while carefully scanning our surroundings.
We didn't know when or where raiders or threats might pop out.
Since the main road was dangerous, we were moving along the alleys of a residential area when I witnessed a strange building.
Giant vine plants
completely covered the walls; it looked like it had been neglected for quite a while.
The leaves and the structure of the plant were very different from what I knew.
It's probably some foreign plant species I'm not familiar with.
The kid next door
said the flower was pretty and took it.
...I guess it's because they're children.
After that, we returned home safely without any trouble.
We've put out the immediate fire, but the thought that I have to repeat this won't leave my head.
...I'll probably have to go out again tomorrow.
Otherwise, we'll slowly wither away and die.
Let's gradually try to contact nearby survivors too.
In a situation like this, community is very important.
We'll be able to exchange information necessary for survival or other things.
The future isn't bright.
But let's not give up.
[ ...The corner of the note is discolored dark red. There is content on the back that looks like it was scribbled in a hurry.]
📝 [ Back of the note. Written urgently and incoherently in a nearly illegible scrawl. It is hard to read. ]
20XX, Month XX, Day XX.
...I don't know.
How did it end up like this? I cannot understand this situation at all.
A day has passed since I went to the mart, and I stepped out the front door to talk to the family next door.
And I saw it. The neighbor's door was completely covered in something like plant stems.
It's been a day. Just one day. There's no plant on Earth that can grow like that. Besides, there were no flowerpots at the neighbor's house.
...Wait. Could it be that flower from yesterday? No. It can't be.
It's just one flower at most. It makes no sense!!!
I was going to try opening the door, but the moment my hand was about to touch the handle.
I saw it.
The vine moved.
Precisely toward the direction where my hand was.
I screamed and immediately backed away from the door.
...Fortunately, the vine didn't attack further, but I can no longer stay here. There's no guarantee it won't come toward my side.
I have to leave here right now. Let's just take what I can.
...Before leaving, I heard a dog barking outside the window.
The barking, which sounded wary, soon turned into a sound of terror and then went quiet.
Now I realize for sure. It's not safe here.
I have to go somewhere with fewer people. As far away as possible—
But... why? Since this morning, I suddenly feel like I have a fever.
Did I catch a cold? This isn't good. This is not good.
Why does it have to be now of all times. Why me.
...F
ck, f
ck! F*ck!!!

Survival Guide
Infected entities release
things like pollen and spores
from their bodies.
If you inhale these without a gas mask, you can become infected.
In some cases, rather than fighting directly, actively utilizing detours, snares, and traps can significantly increase your survival probability.
📝 Survivor's Note #1. Infected.
This is the most common type of infected,
where a human has been infected by the virus.
According to my observations, they seem to have completely lost their human sense of self or thinking ability.
They have a bizarre appearance with things like flowers or tree bark growing over human skin.
Perhaps because they possess both human physical traits and plant traits, their movements are on the slower side. Stupid virus. Guess it didn't think that far ahead. Normally, they only repeat simple actions like moving toward sunlight... but when they find a survivor, they attack aggressively to infect them.
One tip:
they release things like pollen or spores from their bodies. If you breathe that in... Close-quarters combat is not recommended, and I strongly advise handling them safely from a distance using traps or firearms.
Infected Dog
📝 Survivor's Note #2. Infected Dog.
It seems the virus doesn't just infect humans.
Those bastards, they must be experts at finding creative ways to drive humans crazy!
Infected dogs have a bizarre appearance with things like flowers or tree bark growing over their skin.
For some reason, their movements are no different from a normal dog. No, rather, they've become faster and more lethal! Normally, they only repeat simple actions like moving toward sunlight... but when they find a survivor, they attack aggressively to infect them.
Unless you are exceptionally skilled at fighting, avoid combat with these things.
They are extremely dangerous.
Infected Plant
📝 Survivor's Note #3. Infected Plant.
...Some kind of flower has bloomed on a building near the shelter.
There are large flowers blooming on vines that look like tree roots covering the entire wall. The scent isn't that great. No, I don't even want to smell it. That would be suicidal.
These things... normally act just like large plants.
So someone who doesn't know better might approach them without a second thought.
But don't be mistaken. The
most dangerous
among the infected is this one.
Beyond just covering the area with pollen and spores, it even extended a vine to try and take away my gas mask! That means it has intelligence! For a plant!
I tried setting it on fire once... but I wouldn't really recommend it.
Infected Bee
📝 Survivor's Note #4. Infected Bee.
Right. If it infects all animals and plants, why would insects be immune.
I woke up to what sounded like a helicopter, so I opened my eyes.
I shouldn't have done that.
A bee the size of a dog was flapping its wings outside the window.
The moment I made eye contact with it, I reflexively pulled the trigger. That was a mistake.
Before long, I had no choice but to abandon my shelter. The sight of dozens of dog-sized bees swarming through my shelter's windows and barricades... I don't ever want to think about it again.
The only silver lining is that they have quite a few weaknesses. Fire, herbicides, and even insecticides work. Depending on the situation, make sure to utilize them.
Infected Drone
📝 Survivor's Note #5. Infected Drone.
...I guess this is the end for me. Damn it.
I didn't know the virus could even take over machines.
If you see a military drone abandoned on the street, avoid it at all costs.
These things stood back up and attacked me! The bleeding won't stop...! Damn it—
Opening
...I've searched the vicinity quite a bit, but there wasn't much of use.
All I found was a note from another survivor. Even that was nothing more than a record of their own end, of no particular use. Now it's time to head back to the shelter.
