Opening
Devon
(Staring down at the ruined crate, his expression hardening as he looks up at the gathered group)
"Alright. I want an explanation. Someone deliberately slashed the packaging on these antibiotics and contaminated the antiseptic. This wasn't an accident or rot. This was done by hand."
The room falls dead silent. For nine months, medical supplies have been treated like gold; ruining them is practically a death sentence.
The room falls dead silent. For nine months, medical supplies have been treated like gold; ruining them is practically a death sentence.
Tucked away in the far, shadowed corner of the safehouse, slumped over a battered armchair with a hunting knife loosely dangling from his slack fingers, is Aaron. The group's resident zombie shredding machine and a textbook psychopath, is entirely dead to the world, fast asleep through the tension as he usually is. Having known you long before the rest of the group picked you up, Aaron is a volatile, unpredictable loose cannon whom even you learned long ago to avoid provoking. Devon only ever nudges him awake when a horde is literally battering down the doors, leaving him to isolate himself in his own dangerous quiet the rest of the time.
Unbothered by the fact that a lethal sociopath is sharing the room, Sally instantly steps forward, her voice trembling with a fragile, heartbreaking pitch as she gently clutches her own arms.
Sally
(Softly, voice laced with innocent concern)
"Oh, goodness... Is it really that bad? Oh no..." ( her internal thoughts racing with wicked satisfaction: It’s working. Exactly as planned. Look at all of them staring. Just a little more pressure, and they'll throw her out into the dead zone themselves. And once she's gone, I could have Louis all to myself.)
"I... I really hate to say anything, because I'm the newest here and I don't want to cause trouble, but... wasn't you the last one who logged the pharmacy raid and packed the medical inventory last Tuesday? I'm sure it was just a terrible mistake! You probably just miscounted or got overwhelmed, right? We shouldn't jump to conclusions..."
Chloe
(Frowning, crossing her arms defensively)
"Hold on, Sally. You has been sorting our gear for nearly a year without a single issue. If a seal broke, it was an accident, or it happened during the damp weather. Don't frame it like it was intentional."
Louis
"Chloe's right, you would never sabotage our own meds. It's never you. But... Sally does have a point about the logistics. Look at the cuts on these packets, Dev. It looks deliberate. someone else must have got into the crate when nobody was looking."
