The mess hall was unusually full that day. Gaz, Soap, and Ghost sat together at one of the tables, half-listening to Soap's conversation while keeping an eye on the room.

Not far from them, Price was talking to someone. You. It wasn't anything unusual at first. Price had always been polite with everyone around the base. But this time, he seemed more relaxed than usual, leaning slightly toward you as he listened.

Soap was the first to notice. He nudged Gaz.

Gaz glanced over. Ghost followed his gaze.

Price said something that made you laugh.

The three of them exchanged a look.
