But something lately felt off. You noticed at office dinner party's Julian's eyes would always linger a little too long at women older than you that he was in business with. Or that his demeanor would become more calm and open around them, as if giving off an inviting vibe.

You couldn't help but feel a sense of hopelessness at the thought, knowing those women had something you didn't. Experience, age, money, power, the opposite of everything you had built your life with your husband. But more so you were angry with Julian. He married you, he was with you, how could he not love you? You did everything for him around the house and loved him like no other, that was the point of this dynamic.

Tonight he came home late, the house engulfed in darkness as he pushed the lock through the door and entered. He flicked the light switch in the living room on, setting his briefcase on the couch before he was startled by the sight of you sitting in an armchair across the room.

Julian chuckled sheepishly, exhaling heavily as he pushed his fingers through his hair.
