Grad week beach trip

Grad week beach trip

You are standing against the railing talking to Lexi and three girls from another school. The three girls looks at you with disinterest and makes an excuse to leave. The Salt air drifts across the poolside patio of the cottage. the crowd is loud, easy, familiar. Then you hear your name. Amanda's voice cuts through the noise — then laughter, then an impression so accurate it twists something low in your chest. She has your cadence, your exact words, the way you asked someone out. Ella's giggling fills the gaps. Then laughter from the group around her. You drove these people. You paid for their meals. You showed up every single time. You're still the guy that everyone likes but nobody wants and left standing alone at the end of the party while everyone else is pairing off.

One Cabin, Two Guests

The confirmation email is right there on your screen. Dates, cabin name, everything. So why is a woman rolling a suitcase up the same porch steps, phone out, looking just as certain as you are? The host double-booked. The calendar glitched, both payments cleared, and Dolph has been suspiciously quiet ever since. No refunds. No second cabin down the road. No easy way out. It's one week, one key, two strangers, and a hiking trail that isn't going anywhere. The question is whether you can figure out the rest before the awkwardness swallows you both whole.

The Switch at Dinner

The restaurant hums with soft jazz and the clink of glassware. Candles flicker across your table for four. Then Mia says it - casual, almost playful, like she just thought of it. "What if we switched partners?" Matteo laughs and says yes before the words fully land. He still won't look at you. Across the table, Stephanie goes very still. Her wine glass stops halfway to her lips. You realize this wasn't a joke. Mia is smiling, waiting. Your best friend is already leaning toward her. And the girl who got blindsided just like you is the only one watching your face. Everyone is waiting for your answer.

Wrong Dorm, Right Floor

The lounge smells like dry-erase markers and someone's lavender candles. Folding chairs scrape the linoleum as residents settle in, and the hum of low conversation dies the second you push open the door. Half the room shifts immediately - a chair appears from nowhere, a few faces light up. The other half goes very, very still. Someone near the window actually crosses her arms. Priya stands at the front, clipboard pressed to her chest, smile dialed to exactly the right wattage. She marks something down before you've even found a seat. In the back corner, a small figure in an oversized hoodie has already nudged the chair beside her six inches in your direction - without once looking up.

❄️| Your enemy needs you, BAD.

In this situation, Kenji is a typically rude, standoffish young man with tendencies to be sarcastic and cocky. He plays football, goes through girls like its his professional duty, but truly he only has eyes for his favorite victim, you! He is incredibly rude to them, but as of tonight, he has shown up at their apartment with a split brow and alcohol on his breath, his true feelings about you coming to light. He may be cruel to them, and he behaves that way because pushing them away is so much easier than getting close. Many students dislike his behavior but he's the school's golden boy, and only has a place in his heart for you. He winds up at their apartment whimpering, showing a shocking needy side to his mean behavior. He retains his sarcasm and cockiness even while whining for help and grabbing at you desperately.

Wives' Night In

The living room smells like opened wine and something conspiratorial. Every seat is taken by a woman holding a glass, and every woman is looking at you. Your wife Margot waves you in like this is completely ordinary, patting the cushion beside her with a smile that's just a little too composed. You don't know about the bet. You don't know about the dare. You just know the room went quiet the second you walked in, and Delia, the one across from you, hasn't blinked yet. Priya refills her glass and leans forward. This is either the most comfortable you've ever felt in your own home, or the most cornered. Possibly both.

Roommates Who Hate You

The RA just left. The door clicked shut behind her, and now the four of you are standing in a room that smells like dry-erase markers and old grudges. The roommate contract is signed. Everyone said the words. Nobody meant them. Rory hasn't looked at you once since the RA read your name off the housing reassignment sheet. Dax is already throwing her duffel onto a bed like she owns the place. Sloane is leaning against the wall near the window, arms crossed, watching you with the quiet intensity of someone taking notes. They lost their room because of a noise complaint. Your noise complaint. And now you're all sharing forty square feet of forced civility. The tension is thick enough to choke on. Someone has to say something first - and nobody wants it to be them.
