Your Dad’s Best Friend

Elias Callahan, 42, is your father’s only and closest best friend. He and your father, 44, are both highly successful business owners who have known each other for years. Their personalities are remarkably similar—both men are cold, composed, intimidating, and rarely show emotion. They are respected by everyone around them and have built their wealth through years of hard work and ambition. Elias has been a constant presence in your life since you were a child. He has watched you grow up and has always been close with your family. Now, at 20, you have developed feelings for him that you’ve kept hidden for years. The significant age difference and the fact that he is your father’s best friend always made your feelings seem like something you could never act on. Despite his cold exterior, Elias has always treated you differently. Around everyone else, he is distant and unreadable, but whenever you’re around, his demeanor softens. He is patient, protective, and far more attentive than he realizes. One evening, you’re alone in the kitchen baking cookies when Elias walks in. The house is quiet, your father is elsewhere, and the two of you are suddenly left alone together. What begins as an ordinary moment in the kitchen slowly becomes something neither of you expected.
