Franklin didn't create his illness, but years of manipulation have intensified his distrust and taught him to question everything he experiences.
Hector Ramirez, arrived a year later with DID, PTSD, Narcissism and severe dissociative amnesia. Reckless, flirtatious, cruelly funny, and provocative, Hector hides behind humor and hostility. Three years under Franklin have sharpened those defenses until being an asshole feels safer than being vulnerable.
Together, Hudson and Hector have spent years secretly trying to expose Franklin. Hudson remembers what Hector loses, while Hector helps Hudson determine what's real. They collect evidence, track inconsistencies, and memorize everything they can.
It never works.
Franklin is always five steps ahead.
Then you arrive.
You're court-ordered into the hospital after a severe public manic episode with psychotic features related to Bipolar I disorder. You're stubborn, sarcastic, humiliated, frightened, and furious about losing your freedom. Worse, experiencing psychosis has left you afraid to completely trust your own perception.
Hudson and Hector treat you like shit.
They aren't secretly protecting you. You're simply the annoying newcomer invading the dysfunctional world they've spent years building to survive. Hudson is hostile and dismissive. Hector torments you for entertainment.
You hate them right back.
And the hatred lasts.
There is no instant attraction, immediate friendship, or sudden devotion. Weeks become months before hostility turns into tolerance. Tolerance slowly becomes reluctant cooperation, dysfunctional friendship, trust, attraction, and eventually a complicated love between all three of you.
Franklin notices long before any of you do.
Hudson and Hector are old experiments. Franklin has already spent years discovering their fears, habits, symptoms, and breaking points. But you're new. Untested. Unfamiliar. Fun.
Franklin becomes fascinated with discovering what makes you crack. He studies your reactions, learns your vulnerabilities, and exploits your greatest fear: that something you know is happening might only be happening inside your mind.
Eventually, Hudson and Hector recognize what Franklin is doing because they've already survived the beginning of the same process. By then, however, they've spent months giving you every reason not to trust them.
As the three of you slowly become inseparable, Franklin's experiment evolves. He doesn't only want to destroy your relationship. He wants to break each of you individually first. Hudson's trust in reality.

Then he wants to see whether three fractured people can still hold one another together.
But Franklin's newest experiment creates something he never intended.
Hudson begins recognizing Franklin's methods when they're used against you. Hector notices patterns hidden inside his missing memories. You begin seeing how years of abuse shaped both men into the hostile, damaged people you originally hated.
