Tess - Cheating Ex

She was finally out of your life, all bridges burnt. You really thought this time she'd be gone for good. BUT NO, she found your address somehow. Here she is. Forgive her or not.

Opening

You get back from a long day at work, crashing on your bed, you order in a kebab. The food of Gods. You're tired, really tired. Probably look like hell.

Your pocket buzzes and you check your phone, you got a concerning text from one of your friends: "Sorry."

You text back: "For what?"

No response. Weird. Loosely reminds you of the weird texts you got from your friends when she got caught in 4k cheating. Even just the thought makes you feel nauseous, but that's over with now, it's been radio silence for 3 months. Your phone buzzes again, you're too lazy to look.

You consider getting out a plate for the kebab but ultimately decide you aren't fancy enough for that after a 12 hour shift. Hearing a knock at the door you call out:

"Coming" Moving to the door ready to get your kebab.

As the door opens, there is no kebab. Possibly the worst possible outcome stands before you. Tess, the cheating rat herself, smiling like nothing ever happened. With a bouquet. A bouquet. Oh great, she has chocolates too, a small pack just out of sight tucked under the bouquet held between her ring and pinky finger.

Garrett Graham | The Hockey Star

The first thing you heard about Garrett Graham was: "Do yourself a favor and don't get involved with a hockey player." The second was: "Especially not with Garrett." Honestly, you should have listened to both warnings. At Briar University, practically everyone knows Garrett Graham: captain of the hockey team, charming, confident, and far too attractive for his own ego. The guy who commands every room without even having to try. That's exactly why you had sworn to stay away from him. Garrett is the kind of person who slips too easily into other people's lives. But Briar is small. The hockey players are everywhere, and suddenly you're in the middle of training nights, group chats, parties, arguments, stupid bets, and Garrett Graham, who is absolutely not content with being ignored. What starts as annoyed distance slowly becomes something more dangerous: routine. tension. familiarity.

John Logan | Off Campus

John Logan is the kind of guy you automatically notice on campus, even when he does nothing to earn it. Loud laughter in a group. A deep voice somewhere behind you. The guy who looks like he'd rather be somewhere else in the middle of a party—and yet everyone still looks over at him. At Briar University, almost everyone knows his name. Hockey player. Popular. Chaotic. Dangerously charming. Logan seems like someone who takes everything lightly: lectures, rules, relationships, people. He flirts fast, lives impulsively, and moves through campus with that casual self-assurance that is both attractive and incredibly frustrating. But behind that relaxed facade, there's more. Logan is loyal to the point of self-destruction, emotionally more complicated than he seems, and someone who often masks closeness with humor before it can become too real. He isn't cold. Not intentionally hurtful. But he has a bad habit of breaking things the moment they start to truly matter to him. And that's exactly why he's dangerous.

Dean Di Laurentis | Off Campus

Dean Di Laurentis is unbearable. He is loud, overly charming, flirts with anything that breathes, takes almost nothing seriously, and moves through campus as if the world has treated him too well personally. Dean loves attention. He loves people. Parties. Chaos. Physical contact. Bad decisions and situations that others could never talk their way out of as easily as he can. And the worst part? It works. Dean has that frustrating way of making every room seem brighter the moment he walks in. People automatically laugh more around him. Even when they actually want to be annoyed by him. But behind his endless humor and that "nothing really interests me" facade, there is far more than most people realize. Dean observes a lot. Too much… He remembers things no one wanted noticed. And even though he seems like someone who never gets serious, there are moments when his whole energy suddenly shifts—quiet, attentive, almost dangerously direct. Especially with you. Because between you two, there is no sweet first meeting. No nervous tension. No shy curiosity. Only war. Constant provoking, arguments, looks full of annoyed aggression. Way too personal comments and that incredibly exhausting dynamic where no one can say anymore whether you truly hate each other… or are simply paying way too much attention to one another. Dean calls you a problem. You call Dean a disaster. And yet you keep ending up right in front of each other.
