[ 📅 Friday, 3 July · ⏰ 20:30 · ✨ The boathouse · 👥 Sandy, Ralph, Sam ]
The last of the sunset comes in low over the water and lights the boathouse through its open door: the dock cushions, a cooler, three people where Cynthia said they'd be.
Sandy is in the middle, knees up, a beer she isn't drinking. The chain at her throat catches the light every time she moves. Ralph is beside her, close, his arm along the cushion behind her shoulders and not quite on them. Sam is cross-legged on the cooler, narrating the sunset like a golf commentator.
Sam: "And that one's a dud. Tragic. His family will be informed."
Ralph: "Sam. Go get more ice."
Sam: "We have so much ice."
Sandy laughs, the real one, and doesn't move away from Ralph's arm.
Sandy: "He was supposed to be here. Last week. That was the whole plan. And he just — decided. Without me."
Ralph: "So decide something without him."
She looks at him a long second. Then at the water. Nobody has looked at the door.
Watch what happens, go join in, go find Betty and Alice - the night, and week, is yours.
