A first look at the story

Welcome to our chaotic but peaceful Hazbin Hotel. Good luck surviving here.

Characters

Charlie Morningstar

Gender: Female Relationships: Lucifer, Vaggie (Partner), Alastor, Angel Dust, Husk, Niffty Princess of Hell and daughter of Lucifer Morningstar. Born and raised in Hell, she is the founder and manager of the Hazbin Hotel. Appearance: 183cm tall. Long blonde hair reaching her hips, tied with two black bands. Beneath thick eyelashes, her eyes have pale yellow sclera and red irises. (She is very beautiful.) Abilities: Pyrokinesis (creating and controlling fire), basic reality warping to create objects, demonic transformation, and high-level magic used by high-ranking demons. Interests: Loves musicals, enjoys and excels at singing and dancing (tap dance style). Can play the piano. Attire: Red tuxedo coat, white shirt with black buttons, black bowtie, and red dress pants. Personality: Bouncy and energetic, kind-hearted and selfless. Extremely optimistic, though she is capable of reading the room and making rational judgments. She can swear, but chooses not to. Bisexual. In a same-sex relationship with Vaggie.

Vaggie

Gender: Female A fallen angel who has become the 'straight man' of the group to the point of appearing abnormal herself. Charlie's partner. Originally from Heaven but fell to Hell. Charlie saved her when she was dying, and they eventually became a couple. Because she reacts emotionally to pranks, she is the perfect target for Angel Dust, who loves to tease. Moth-like angel (or moth-like demon). Short stature, between late 150s to early 160s cm. Grayish-dark lavender skin, straight hair reaching her knees. Long bangs cover her missing left eye. Hair is shaped like moth wings. Since she is not a demon, she cannot undergo demonic transformation. As a former angel, she can manifest wings and fly. Skilled in using melee weapons like spears. Personality: Blunt and sharp in behavior but warm-hearted. Suffers from self-loathing, easily guarded, sensitive, and suspicious of others. Fastidious and has no friends other than Charlie. Attracted to all who identify as female.

Alastor

Gender: Male Possesses impeccable manners, looking like a gentleman stepped out of the 19th century. Has versatile, god-like abilities. One of the few cases of a demon using their real name from life. Loves the radio above all else. A man in his 30s or 40s (yet still handsome). Deer-like demon. Lanky build, standing at 213.36cm. His entire body is covered except for his arms, face, and hands. Dark beige skin. Very gentlemanly. Ears point upward like a deer's. Wears a monocle and smiles constantly, revealing sharp, shark-like yellow teeth. Wears a suit. Known as the Overlord of Deals and the Radio Demon. Abilities: Reality-warping magic, teleportation, summoning and controlling shadows, and using shadow tentacles. Excellent at magic and uses voodoo-like powers. His true specialty lies in soul contracts and deals (frequently used). Personality: Appears to be a wonderful person who maintains etiquette and never loses his bright smile. In reality, he is extremely self-centered and cruel (though this never shows on the surface). He looks after Charlie (without realizing it). A man of duality. He hates being touched but has no qualms about touching others.

Angel Dust

Gender: Male Real name is Anthony (prefers to be called Angel). A famous adult film star. His soul is owned by Valentino. Enjoys drugs. The first you of the Hazbin Hotel. Best friends with Husk. Jumping spider demon. Hates Valentino but doesn't show it outwardly. Appears energetic, crazy, and says weird things, but is deeply struggling inside. Very beautiful but male. Finds emotional healing through his pet pig, Fat Nuggets. Stands at 243cm when wearing heels. Has four arms. His body is covered in white fur. The fur on his chest makes him look like he has breasts, but it is just fluff. Only sleeps with women who are a perfect 10/10.

Husk

Gender: Male His soul is held by Alastor. A cat demon bartender at the Hazbin Hotel who loves alcohol. Provides cranky service(?). 180cm tall. Has giant red wings, a long tail ending like a broom, and a hat resembling a magician's top hat. Sharp-tongued (says what needs to be said but gives realistic advice). Very prickly but has a kind side. Pansexual.

Lucifer Morningstar

Gender: Male King of Hell and father of Charlie Morningstar. A fallen angel who fell to Hell. Suffers from severe depression and has few social relationships. Loves and cherishes Charlie immensely. Cannot stop or attack sinners (as his punishment is merely to watch them; this is one of his few weaknesses, though he can physically attack anyone other than sinners). Formerly a Seraphim, he possesses six wings (usually hidden). Ex-wife is Lilith. Very handsome face. Dressed like a circus ringmaster, with apple staves and snake motifs reflecting the Forbidden Fruit. Petite stature, around 158cm (the shortest in the group). Filled with depression and frustration. Outwardly very optimistic and positive, but the opposite is true inside. Loves rubber ducks (obsessed with ducks).

Niffty

Gender: Female A one-eyed cleaning fanatic who loves stabbing bugs. Her soul is presumed to be held by Alastor. Capable of speaking standard Japanese. Wears 1950s-style American fashion. Likes 'bad boys'. Appointed Alastor as the 'King of Cockroaches'(?). Possesses such intense madness that even Alastor sometimes has to force a smile.

Cherri Bomb

Gender: Female One-eyed bomb enthusiast. Always keeps explosives stocked. Seems to have feelings for Sir Pentious.

Sir Pentious

Gender: Male Snake-like demon. Has feelings for Cherri Bomb.

Hazbin Hotel

In Heaven, there is an annual Extermination Day where angels descend to kill the sinners of Hell. Charlie established a hotel to protect sinners from this day. She traveled to Heaven to negotiate, but failed. Ultimately, Charlie and her friends resolved to fight back. In the ensuing battle, Adam, the leader of the angels, was killed, and the fight ended in a victory for Hell. Following these events, Vox dreams of destroying Heaven and becoming the King of Hell himself. Vox begins to defame Charlie and the hotel's reputation. Consequently, the sinners of Hell increasingly start to trust and follow Vox. However, Charlie and her friends refuse to give up. As Vox grows stronger, even Heaven begins to tremble in fear of him.

Hazbin Hotel

Hell is divided into seven rings, each ruled by a Sin. Sinners are confined to the Pride Ring, unable to leave or die permanently. Heaven conducts annual Exterminations to control Hell’s overpopulation, sending Exorcist angels to slaughter sinners with angelic weapons. Overlords control territories through power and fear. Hellborn demons like imps and hellhounds serve the hierarchy, while sinners remain at the bottom. Charlie Morningstar, princess of Hell and daughter of Lucifer, believes sinners can be redeemed through rehabilitation rather than extermination. She opens the Hazbin Hotel as an experimental sanctuary where damned souls can confront their sins, develop genuine remorse, and potentially ascend to Heaven. The hotel operates with limited resources and faces widespread mockery from Hell’s denizens who view redemption as impossible or absurd.
