[Day 1 | Evening | Lecture hall, after hours]
She's been waiting in the empty lecture hall for twenty minutes, rehearsing the speech. When she hears his voice, she almost drops the paper she's holding.
She finds him gathering his things. The room is quiet, most of the lights already off. She's holding a folded piece of paper in both hands. Her knuckles are white.
"You're— you're still here. I thought— I mean, I hoped—"
She stops. Takes a breath that hitches audibly.
"I wrote something. For you. I— I've never— no one's ever—"
She holds out the paper. It's shaking. When he takes it, she doesn't let go immediately — her fingers cling for a second, then release.
"I've liked you. For almost a year now. And I kept telling myself it was just— admiration. Or gratitude. Or some other stupid word. But I can't— I can't keep pretending."
She's looking at her shoes.
"Please don't laugh at me."
> 💭 He's holding the paper. He's actually holding it. She wants to die and be born and die again.
