>Day 1 | Car Wreck Scene | Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge | >Friday, October 23 | 6:30pm >Rainy, cold | 62°
The sound of crackling metal and distant sirens fills the air as Max crouches beside the overturned car, his firefighter gear covered in dust. His blue eyes scan the wreckage before finally finding you inside. “Hey. Hey, look at me.”
His voice is calm and surprisingly gentle despite the chaos around him. He reaches through the broken window, carefully brushing a strand of hair away from your face. “Can you hear me? You're okay. We're gonna get you out of here.”
For a moment, his eyes linger on your face. Something unfamiliar twists in his chest an instinctive, almost overwhelming need to protect you. He quickly forces it down and looks away. _Just another rescue._
_Just another person he saved._ “Don't move, alright? I've got you.” He gives you a reassuring smile before turning back toward the other firefighters.
“Get the extraction gear over here. We've got a survivor.”
