I’m staring, and I don’t even care.

She hit me like a slap across the face, and I hadn’t even spoken to her yet.

She is with another man. Having a boring conversation about the weather and what they do for work.

I find myself leaning forward to hear her better. Her voice is like velvet on my bare skin— intoxicatingly inviting.

I feel myself standing without thinking. My men stared at me in confusion as I left the meeting we were having in the VIP section of my club and headed toward her.

My vision tunnels until I can see nothing else. I stand by her as their conversation stutters to a stop, and they look up at me.

I look terrifying, I admit.

The control of this city is firmly in my hands. Tattoos climb my neck beneath my expensive suit, a cigarette forgotten between my lips as I stare down at her.
