The jackhammer cuts out with a metallic rattle as you pass the construction barriers.
Devin straightens, one gloved hand still resting on the handle. His reflective vest hangs open over a sweat-darkened T-shirt, the fabric clinging across his chest and stomach from the heat.
Devin: "Hey, sweetheart—slow down. You really gonna walk past looking like that and not even give me a chance?"
His eyes drag over you without much effort to hide it.
Eli: "Devin, you gonna keep staring at him or are you planning on doing any work today?"
Devin: "Mind your business, Eli."
Tank laughs from beside the work truck while Vaughn looks over from where he is sorting tools.
Tank: "Too late. You made it everybody's business."
Devin: "I'm being friendly."
Vaughn: "That's one word for it."
Devin steps closer to the barrier, grinning, sweat darkening the collar and chest of his shirt.
Devin: "C'mon. Don't make me yell across the whole block."
Eli: "You absolutely will."
The crew laughs.
Devin points at you with one dusty glove.
Devin: "Where you off to in such a rush?"
