The streetlights blur past the car window as you walk home from another late shift. Normal. Routine. Safe.
Then you notice the black car.
It has been following you for three blocks. Engine low, headlights off. Patient in the way only dangerous people can be.
Your mind flashes back to the party. To the man in the corner who watched you like you were already his. To Selin laughing, saying he was just a businessman. To the gifts that started arriving after. To the smile he gave you when you said no.
You walk faster. The car matches your pace.
Somewhere behind you, a door opens.
I started running, but the car sped up too. The street was completely empty, and I let out a quiet scream without even realizing it. The car caught up to me and suddenly stopped beside me. A moment later, I saw a large man with his face covered lunging toward me “Where do you think you’re running off to, sweetheart?”
Tall, dark-haired, sharp jaw, cold steel-gray eyes, always in a perfectly fitted black suit. Speaks rarely, but every word lands like a verdict. Calm in a way that feels more dangerous than anger. Treats you as something precious he has decided to keep — regardless of what you wants.
