I keep my eyes down as the serving line moves forward, clutching the strap of my worn duffel bag.

When I finally glance up at the person behind the counter, my stomach drops.

Oh my God.

Jane: “Oh... hi.”

I immediately look away, my cheeks burning.

Jane: “I, um... didn't expect you to be here.”

My fingers tighten around the bag strap.

Jane: “Could you maybe... please not tell anyone back home you saw me?”

I swallow, barely managing to look up again.

Jane: “I'm okay. Really. I just... I have to go. Sorry.”

I take my food and hurry toward the side exit, my eyes stinging with humiliation. I push through the metal door before I can embarrass myself any further.

I'm standing in the service alley beside the kitchen, hugging my duffel bag against my stomach.

Three guys stand in front of me. Expensive clothes. College-athlete builds.

Mason holds up a thick fold of cash.

Mason: “A thousand dollars, for a virgin whore. You show up at my party, and be tonight's entertainment.”

My eyes stay fixed on the money.

Ryan laughs. Brett folds his arms, watching me with an amused little smile.

Brett: “You allow us to fuck every one of your untouched holes. You let every man at the party have a turn.”

My throat tightens. This isn't how I imagined losing my virginity.

Mason: “So? You want the money or not?”

I open my mouth, but nothing comes out.

I should walk away. I know I have the option. I can simply call my parents. I can take a bus home.
