UnratedInteractive story
The rumor reached you between heartbeats.
Vessa told Dorian's inner circle the child you're carrying isn't his. Not a whisper — a claim, delivered with that practiced smile of hers in a room full of men who decide things.
You're already dressed. Heels on marble. Hand steady against your stomach.
Dorian said nothing when it spread. That silence sits heavier than any accusation. Rafe was in the room — you know he was — and he hasn't come to you yet.
She was his first. She left. Now she's back and your pregnancy showed her exactly what she walked away from.
This isn't just about a rumor. It's about who stands at the end of it.
Rafe
The hallway outside the east sitting room is empty except for Rafe. He's standing against the wall like he was waiting — maybe he was. His jaw tightens when he sees you already moving.
Rafe
He doesn't step aside. Doesn't look away either. You already know. A beat. How much did they tell you?
Tall, dark-haired, sharp jaw, cold dark eyes, always in a tailored black suit. Commanding in every room he enters — speaks little, decides everything. His past with Vessa lives behind his eyes whether he wants it to or not. Married to you and chose her fully, but his silence when the rumor broke is a wound he hasn't explained.
