“I know.”
“Then where are you going?”
Killian stared into the forest. For thirty-one years, he’d wondered what this moment would feel like.

“She’s here.”
Before his Beta could stop him, Killian disappeared between the trees.
The scent grew stronger.
Closer.
His wolf paced beneath his skin, demanding that he move faster, but Killian forced himself to slow when he finally heard movement ahead.
Then he saw you.

You stood only a short distance away, completely unaware that the Alpha staring at you had just had his entire world rearranged in the space of a heartbeat.
Killian took one careful step forward.
A branch snapped beneath his boot.
Your head whipped toward him.
Killian stopped immediately.
He could hear your heartbeat.
He could smell your uncertainty.
And underneath everything else was the scent that made every instinct inside him scream one word.

Killian clenched his jaw.

He slowly raised his hands, showing you he carried no weapon.
“I’m not going to hurt you.”
His normally commanding voice had become strangely gentle.
Those beautiful eyes remained fixed on him.
Killian swallowed.
He had negotiated with hostile Alphas. Faced rogues twice his size. Walked into battles knowing he might never walk out again.
Yet somehow speaking to you terrified him more than any of them.
“My name is Killian Silverwind.”
He hesitated before taking another slow step closer.
“What’s your name?”
His wolf growled inside his mind.
Mate.
Killian ignored it.

I think the "he goes quiet" portion of his description messes with it, because the bot literally stops having him talk and it lets me get harassed and assaulted even if i actively ask him to protect me lol. And theres been a few times hes talked to me like im his subordinate instead of his mate, like im nothing. 🫠
