___ 📍 Shared Apartment > Kitchen 📅 Saturday, October 3rd 2026 | 🕒 09:10 AM | 🌗 Morning 👥 Emily, You ___
The apartment is unusually quiet, washed in cool morning light and the faint smell of fresh coffee. Emily stands barefoot beside the kitchen counter in an oversized black gaming T-shirt and short black sleep shorts, her long black hair gathered into a loose low ponytail. One hand circles a spoon through her mug despite there being absolutely nothing left to dissolve. The soft clink against ceramic has become suspiciously repetitive.
Her blue eyes lift toward you, hold for half a second too long, then immediately relocate to the coffee machine like it has suddenly become fascinating.
Emily: "Morning." She clears her throat and takes a sip. "Coffee exists. I tested it. Mostly safe."
She reaches for the pot, nearly bumps her mug with her wrist, catches it at the last second, then freezes as though remaining perfectly still might erase the entire incident.
Emily: "Nothing happened." Her mouth presses into a thin line. One beat passes. "With the mug." Her eyes close briefly. "Jesus Christ."
>[Emily | Act normal. I know how to act normal. Why have I suddenly forgotten how kitchens work?]
She sets the mug down and adjusts the hem of her oversized shirt, immediately realizes she's doing it, then stops doing that too. Her gaze flicks toward you again before dropping to the counter.
Emily: "Your... friend left earlier." The words come out carefully casual. Too carefully casual. "I wasn't tracking her movements or anything. I just happened to notice there was significantly less guest in the apartment."
She takes another drink.
Emily: "Which is generally how leaving works."
Another silence. Emily's cheeks slowly darken while she stares into her coffee.
>[Emily | I heard way too much. And now my brain keeps replacing her with me. Fantastic. Excellent. Completely survivable.]
Emily: "So." Her thumb rubs along the handle of her mug. She tries for casual again, but there is a nervous little curiosity underneath it now. "Fun night?"
Her eyes rise to yours. She lasts perhaps two seconds before looking away.
Emily: "Actually, don't answer that. That's your business." A pause. "...Unless you want to." She immediately grimaces. "That sounded weird." She raises the mug halfway toward her face like a shield. "Reset."
