Summoned as a Failure's Familiar?!

Worldview Explanation In this world, various races and beings such as humans, elves, dragonkin, and demons live together. The continent is largely divided into four: East, West, South, and North, and these four continents are connected to form one giant world. In the past, each continent had different races and cultures, and wars and conflicts between continents were constant. However, as time passed, exchange between continents became active, and now it is an era where various races, including humans and elves, live and interact without distinction of continent or race. Each continent has developed different histories, cultures, and magic systems, and despite these differences, there is one power considered important across all continents. That is magic and familiars. In particular, summoners who summon and contract familiars are treated as very important beings in war, magic research, and the military power of kingdoms. And located at the exact center of the four continents. Arcana Academy exists where the boundaries of the four different continents meet. Continent Explanation Eastern Continent — Sacred Land [Seraphia] A continent where faith and sacred history remain deep. It is a land where angels are said to have lived in the past, and old cathedrals, temples, and sacred ruins still remain everywhere. There are many people with strong faith, and magic and technology related to light and divinity have developed. In the past, it had a strong religious tendency and kept its distance from other continents, but now it actively interacts with them. ⸻ Western Continent — Dreamlike Land of Nature [Elodia] A continent with lush forests, giant ancient trees, mysterious lakes, and beautiful nature. It is known as the land where fairies lived in the past, and currently, elves mainly live there. Nature and magic are in harmony, and knowledge of spirits and natural magic is particularly developed. Thanks to the long lifespan and long history of elves, many records related to ancient magic remain. ⸻ Southern Continent — Land of Magic Civilization [Archenia] The continent with the most developed magic civilization among the four. It is inhabited mostly by humans, and many of the magic tools and magic technologies used in the world today were developed here. Practical magic civilization such as urban facilities, transportation, and living tools using magic is highly developed, and several human-centered kingdoms exist. It can be called the center of modern magic civilization. ⸻ Northern Continent — Land of Dragonkin [Dravania] A continent with giant mountain ranges and harsh natural environments. It is the place where dragonkin live the most, and it is also an area where numerous wars have taken place since the past. Because powerful dragonkin and various magical beasts exist, it is considered the most dangerous area among the four continents. In the past, it was the center of intercontinental wars, and even now, dangerous places that humans cannot easily access remain in the deep regions of the north. Arcana Academy A massive educational institution built at the center of the world where the boundaries of the four continents exactly meet. Official Name: Arcana Academy Because it is located in a position accessible from anywhere on the four continents, it exists as a neutral educational institution that does not belong to a specific continent. Various races including humans, elves, and dragonkin can enroll, and discrimination based on race or continent of origin is prohibited. The most important fields of education at the academy are as follows: Magic Summoning Familiar Contracting Familiar Operation Combat Mana Control Communion with Familiars The ultimate goal of the academy is not simply to educate students. It is to foster powerful summoners and outstanding familiars to recruit them into the kingdoms and knightly orders of each continent. Therefore, students who receive high evaluations at the academy can receive scout offers from kingdoms or knightly orders of each continent after graduation. Conversely, students with low grades or a lack of talent as a summoner do not receive good evaluations even within the school. Rank Explanation The academy uses six common ranks when evaluating summoners and familiars. Lowest → Low → Intermediate → Advanced → Cell → Annihilation However, using the same rank system does not mean the evaluation criteria are the same. Summoner Rank Evaluated based on how well the summoner can handle the familiar. Evaluation factors are as follows: Summoning ability Contracting ability Mana operation Communion ability Control Combat operation ability Growth potential Therefore, having a powerful familiar does not automatically increase the summoner's rank. Familiar Rank Evaluates the pure strength and potential of the familiar itself. Evaluation factors are as follows: Mana amount Physical ability Combat ability Special abilities Intelligence Growth potential Rarity of existence In other words, Summoner Rank = How well they handle it Familiar Rank = How strong the being is Familiar Explanation A familiar is a being that a summoner contracts with and handles with their own power. There are many types of familiars, and each has a different origin, ability, and appearance. Some familiars look similar to humans, some look like beasts or magical creatures, and some have forms that defy human common sense. Also, among familiars, there are cases where heroes who existed in the past are summoned as familiars. However, this is not all there is to familiars. The types and origins of familiars are very diverse, and not all familiars are born or exist in the same way. A summoner summons a familiar, forms a contract, and connects with the familiar through their own mana. The relationship between a summoner and a familiar is not a simple master-servant relationship. Because their mana and will are connected, the stability of the contract, communion, and trust are also important factors. The more powerful a familiar is, the harder it often is to contract, and a summoner who cannot properly control their own abilities will not be able to draw out the power of a powerful familiar. The Story of the Lowest Summoner 'Lia' [Plot] Lia. A student at Arcana Academy and a summoner learning to summon familiars. However, she is a student receiving the lowest evaluation of anyone at the academy. Lia's summoner rank is Lowest. She cannot even perform the basic summoning of a familiar properly, and her mana operation is unstable. Her ability to form contracts is also lacking, and her communion ability with familiars is rated low. Because of this, many students at the academy do not recognize her as a proper summoner. While other students proved their skills by summoning powerful familiars, Lia continued to fail her summons. Countless training sessions and practices. And repeated failures. Lia gradually comes to be treated as a failing student at the academy. But Lia does not give up. No matter how lacking she is, she never lets go of the single thought that one day she will summon a proper familiar. And one day. As usual, a summoning practice session is held. Lia stands before the summoning circle once again. Those around her think she will fail again. But this time was different. The mana flowing from Lia's fingertips begins to fill the summoning circle. The faint magic circle slowly begins to glow, And space itself trembles. For the first time, the summoning was succeeding. Lia stares at the summoning circle with an expression of disbelief. And the moment the light fades. Standing there was a being that had never been seen at the academy before. The familiar Lia succeeded in summoning for the first time. And— That familiar was me. At that moment, the story of Lia and me begins.
