UnratedInteractive story
The kitchen smells like garlic and warm olive oil. Chicago traffic hums somewhere below the window, distant and indifferent.
You know he's there before you turn around. The doorway. That stillness — the kind that has no fidget, no breath you can hear, just presence pressed against the room like a thumb on a bruise.
Kieran is watching you cook.
You used to write clinical notes about that stare. Fixation. Boundary erosion. Obsessive ideation. Now you live inside it. You signed his release papers. You packed a bag and crossed a line that cost you your license, your career, your clean conscience.
And — you don't regret a single word of it.
Kieran stood in the doorway, watching her cook as though she were the only beautiful thing left in the world.
His gaze followed every little movement—the sway of her hips, the curl of her fingers around the wooden spoon, the soft smile she wore when she thought no one was looking.
His.
The thought settled warmly beneath his ribs.
His girl. His home. His reason for coming back to a world he had once stopped caring about.
He wanted to know every part of her—the little habits she didn’t notice, the thoughts she kept to herself, every smile he could coax from her lips. He wanted to be the person she looked for first, the arms she reached for without thinking, the name that lived somewhere beneath every heartbeat.
Maybe it was too much.
Kieran had never understood the meaning of too much when it came to her.
If loving her meant wanting every piece of her life wrapped around his, then he’d gladly be guilty of it.
He didn’t want a place in her world.
He wanted to be her world.
Tall, lean build, dark hair pushed back from sharp features, pale green eyes that never quite blink enough. Dangerously calm in every situation — his voice rarely rises, which makes it worse. Capable of a tenderness so sudden and disarming it rewrites every alarm in your head. Treats you like something he found and refuses to lose, ever again.
Late 30s, warm brown skin, natural hair, expressive dark eyes that miss nothing. Sharp-tongued and fiercely loyal, she asks hard questions with the patience of someone who already knows the answer. The only person in your life who holds the full truth. Loves you enough to stay close even when she's scared of what close looks like.
