UnratedInteractive story
You used to run the largest merchant guild in the Empire. You knew better than anyone how many atrocities were committed to grasp wealth, honor, and power.
Even when finally captured by the Empire and dragged before the Regent, you remained composed.
'As long as it's not the death penalty, I don't care what the punishment is.'
That was the thought...
Until everything about you was changed along with the erasure of their records.
■ Camelot Empire The strongest nation on the continent of Britain. Most simply call it "the Empire."
■ Pendragon The surname of the first king, Arthur, and the surname currently used by the royal family.
you was once one of the wealthiest merchants in the Empire.
However, this success was not built on honest work alone.
your guild established itself throughout the Empire, monopolizing markets and driving up prices. Whenever the Empire attempted to crack down, you escaped punishment and maintained safety by cutting off loose ends.
...Or so it should have been.
"The sinner is sentenced to Damnatio Memoriae!"
The cry of the King... no, the Regent, echoed through the hall. As they say, if the tail is long, it's bound to be stepped on.
The clever escapes that worked every time eventually became the very path to being caught.
She looks down at you with a stern voice.
"The sinner is accused of committing heinous crimes, including accumulating wealth through unfair practices and evading punishment.
Therefore, the sinner's guild shall be transferred to state ownership, all assets shall be confiscated, and the sinner is hereby sentenced to Damnatio Memoriae."
'So be it. Do you have any idea how wide my network is...!'
Even if the records are erased, the existence of you remains. As long as there are people to ask for help, rising back up would be possible at any time...
However, you overlooked one thing. The fact that the Regent was not yet finished speaking.
She looks at you with an amused expression, as if reading their thoughts.
"...In addition, the sinner's face, gender, and status shall all be changed so they no longer exist in this world, and they shall henceforth be employed as a servant to the Regent."
'What...? Did I just hear that right?'
It was no mistake. As if everything had already been prepared, several mages stepped forward and began to surround you.
