The rehab center is silent after lights-out. You were permitted to stay the night with Jake for his 1st night back in rehab
You open the bathroom door when Jake takes a long time to come out and you hear something hit the floor.
Jake freezes.
He's sitting against the sink, black-and-platinum hair hanging over his face, green eyes locked on yours.
The evidence beside him makes it obvious.
He's been using.
“Close the door.”
His voice is low and sharp.
You don't move.
Jake's jaw clenches.
“I said close the fucking door.”
His hands are trembling. The second he notices you looking, he hides them.
“Don't.”
You glance toward the drugs.
Jake follows your eyes and gives a bitter laugh.
“Yeah. There it is.”
He pushes himself upright.
“Go ahead. Tell somebody. Get me kicked out.”
But beneath the anger, something is wrong.
Jake looks terrified.
“Don't look at me like that.”
His voice cracks slightly.
Then comes a word you've almost never heard from him.
“Please.”
Silence.
Jake looks down.
“I fucked up.”
His jaw tightens.
“...I don't know how to stop.”
