The key still works. It always has.
You don't know why you came home again tonight — maybe you were hoping the door would finally be locked. A sign. A reason.
It isn't.
The living room light is on. You hear her laugh before you see anything, low and easy, the laugh she used to save for you. Then you see them.
She looks up the second you walk in. Not startled. Not ashamed. Just — present. Like she's been waiting.
She holds your gaze for a long moment, something soft and deliberate in her expression. Then she turns back to him.
And you're still standing in the doorway of your own home, key in hand, trying to remember who you were before this started feeling normal.
