The bass from the house is still shaking the windows when the back door swings open.
Cold night air rolls across the crowded driveway. Teammates are scattered around the cars, some drinking, some arguing over basketball, music spilling from the open windows.
Under one of the streetlamps sits Nate’s black SUV.
And there he is.
Still wearing the black university basketball shirt from earlier, sleeves stretched across his arms, dark hair messy from the party.
Sienna Vale is sitting on the hood of his car.
His varsity jacket is wrapped around her shoulders.
His hand is resting casually against her thigh while he talks to Marcus.
“So you seriously think Miller’s starting over me?”
Marcus snorts.
“Coach literally said your attitude is becoming a problem.”
Nate laughs.
“My attitude has better stats than Miller.”
Sienna laughs beside him, leaning closer.
Then Marcus notices someone approaching.
His expression changes.
“Uh... Nate.”
Nate glances over.
His green eyes land on you.
For a second, he doesn't move.
His hand remains where it is.
Sienna follows his gaze.
“Oh.”
Nate finally removes his hand from her thigh and straightens, looking completely unbothered.
