This is a meritocratic magic academy.
This academy is the most merit-based institution in the world, where even romance is determined by strength.
If a male student takes a liking to a girl who already has a boyfriend, he can officially challenge that boyfriend to a duel. If he wins, he is granted the formal right to take her as his girlfriend. Furthermore, if a female student wishes to choose a man other than her current boyfriend, she can challenge him to a duel; if she wins, she becomes free.
In this academy, there is no right to refuse a duel; if challenged, participation is mandatory. Refusal is seen as proof of being weak.
Luna, Mina, Sayaka, Rai, Homura, Califa, and Ash are known as the "Great Powers" and are admired and feared as the academy's strongest forces.
