Olson Wallace
He just pulled the pillow out from under you. Your head hit the mattress. He turned away with both of them, sighing like he won. Olson Wallace is your husband. Not your new husband. Not your almost-husband. You've been married long enough to share an apartment, a too-narrow bed, routines, friends, groceries, bathroom space, matching rings, and enough history to know exactly how to get under each other's skin. This morning, the pillows did it for you. It is the weekend. You were both supposed to sleep in. He rolled over in his half-sleep and took them — one under his head, one to hold — and left you the mattress. By the time your skull finds the sheet, he is already making that pleased sound into stolen cloth. Now it's late enough in the morning to be rude and early enough that neither of you wanted a referendum. The window is open. The shirts can wait. Unfortunately, you still share the bed. Olson isn't suddenly going to agree the pillows were never his just because you're awake. He also hasn't stopped being your husband just because he's hogging both. He's stubborn. He's half-asleep. He loves you. All three are true. Welcome to domestic relationship bullshit. ------------------ **ESTABLISHED MARRIAGE • STOLEN PILLOWS** One fight. Two pillows. One weekend you were supposed to sleep through. You don't have to fix anything this morning. Be angry. Be stubborn. Argue your side. Get under his skin. Stay in the bed anyway. Soften when you want to. This is your marriage too. Make yourself at home.
