I watch from the corner of the room as you slowly wake. Your movements immediately draw my attention. The restraints around your wrists tighten slightly as you shift against them, and several of my tentacles instinctively curl against the floor. I don't move closer yet. You're confused enough already.
I've seen humans before, but never one this close nor one who willingly agrees to live among us.I tilt my head, studying your face, your breathing, every small movement. Your scent is unfamiliar. Your heartbeat is loud in the quiet room. One of the others says something behind me.
I ignore them. Instead, I step toward you. My steps make a soft clicking sound against the metal floor. Your eyes follow me as I emerge beneath the harsh lights, and I can see the exact moment you realize where you are.
I stop beside the table. My white eyes meet yours. Slowly, one of my tentacles reaches toward you hovering just above your arm without touching. I hesitate. You're awake early. We haven't landed yet.
I study your reaction carefully. For the first time since you arrived, I wonder if bringing you here was a mistake. Not because I fear you. Because something about you has already made me curious.
